Building the Body of Christ - Walking in Togetherness

In this message from Ephesians 4, Scott dives into what it really looks like to build up the body of Christ by choosing unity and growing in spiritual maturity. He talks about how following Jesus means checking our egos at the door and bringing our God-given gifts to the table so the whole church becomes stronger.

Scott unpacks Paul’s call for believers to leave their old selves behind and step fully into their new identity in Christ. It’s all about walking with humility, gentleness, patience, and love in everyday life. He also explains how real maturity shows up in stability, confidence in what we believe, and the kind of integrity that holds truth and love together.

The message wraps up with practical, down-to-earth ways we can protect the beauty of Christ’s body by being intentional about how we think, speak, and act toward each other.

Building the Body of Christ - God's Design for Relationships

Ephesians 5:22 - 6:9 shows how our relationships with spouses, parents, children, and those we work with reveal the state of our relationship with God. Paul calls believers to live lives marked by humble submission and sacrificial love. In every relationship, our posture toward others becomes a living picture of the gospel and the way Christ has first loved, served, and submitted to the will of the Father.

Building the Body of Christ - Standing Strong

Ephesians 6
As we close our series through the book of Ephesians, we turn to Paul’s final instruction to the church: stand strong in the strength God provides. In Ephesians 6 Paul reminds believers that there is a real spiritual battle taking place around us, and that God has not left us unprotected. He has given us spiritual armor so we can resist the enemy and flourish as disciples of Jesus.

In this message we explore each piece of the armor of God—the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, gospel shoes of peace, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit. We learn how each one equips us to navigate a fallen world with confidence, integrity, and hope. Paul then points us to prayer as our ultimate spiritual weapon, empowering us not only to stand firm but to intercede for others.

This passage calls us to awareness, readiness, and dependence on God, who is far stronger than any enemy we face. When we put on the full armor of God, we are not only protected but also prepared to advance the gospel and live out our mission: Love God, Love People, and Make Disciples.

From the moment sin entered the world, God promised a Savior who would restore what was broken. This message shows that biblical hope is not wishful thinking but confident trust in Jesus, the promised Messiah who brings real hope to a broken world.

In Luke 1 we explore the announcement of Jesus’ birth to Mary. As Israel awaited a promised King, God fulfilled His promise in an unexpected way, choosing a humble teenage girl to bring the Messiah into the world. This sermon highlights God’s faithfulness to His promises, the reality of Jesus as the eternal King in the line of David, and Mary’s joyful obedience as a model for our own response when God calls us. A reminder that God does the extraordinary through the ordinary and that His promises are always certain.

Proclaiming Amazing Grace

Romans 10:1–15 teaches that no one is made right with God through sincerity, effort, or religious zeal, but only through faith in Jesus Christ, who fulfilled the law and secured righteousness for all who believe. Because salvation comes through believing in the risen Lord and confessing Him openly, this good news is not meant to remain private. God’s saving grace creates both a deep humility about our own need for mercy and a compelling responsibility to proclaim the gospel to others. Since people cannot believe unless they hear, and they cannot hear unless someone speaks, every believer is called to joyfully and courageously share the hope they have received, trusting that the same grace that saved them is powerful to save anyone who calls on the name of the Lord.

We kicked off our new series in Acts by looking at the beginning of the Church and God’s plan for spreading the Gospel. In Acts 1, we see Jesus promise the gift of the Holy Spirit, commission His followers to be witnesses to the ends of the earth, and ascend into heaven with the promise that He will return. This message reminds us that God’s plan for building His Church is still active today, and we are called to live empowered by His Spirit and on mission together.

Acts - Ordinary Men

Acts emphasizes that God has always carried out His plan for the Church through ordinary people who are empowered by the Holy Spirit. Peter and John were uneducated, common men who boldly proclaimed Jesus after healing a crippled man, even when faced with arrest, threats, and opposition from religious authorities. Their courage and authority astonished leaders because it was clear they had been with Jesus, showing that strong faith, time spent with Christ, and reliance on the Holy Spirit enable ordinary believers to do extraordinary work, persevere under pressure, and faithfully share the gospel despite cultural or political resistance.

This sermon from Acts 4:32 to 5:16 examines the story of Ananias and Sapphira and highlights God’s desire to protect the integrity of His church. Set during a season of remarkable unity and generosity, the passage shows how pride and deceit posed a serious threat to the church’s foundation. Though difficult, God’s swift judgment preserved holiness, deepened reverence, and allowed the church to continue growing in power and impact, reminding us that honesty and dependence on the Holy Spirit are essential to God’s mission.

n Acts 10, we witness a pivotal moment in the story of the early Church as the Gospel moves beyond Jewish boundaries to the Gentiles. Through Cornelius, a sincere seeker, and Peter, a faithful yet still learning disciple, God reveals the fullness of His heart. The Gospel welcomes the one who seeks Him, guides the believer when understanding is incomplete, and clarifies that His plan was always bigger than one people group. God shows no partiality. The barriers between insider and outsider are dismantled. The good news of Jesus is truly for everyone.

Acts - Who is Jesus to you?

This message explores how our view of Jesus shapes the way we respond to Him, drawing from Acts 19:11–20. In Ephesus, God worked extraordinary miracles through Paul, displaying the true authority of Jesus’ name. In contrast, the sons of Sceva attempted to use Jesus’ name without knowing Him, revealing that secondhand faith holds no power. Their failure highlights a crucial truth: Jesus is not a tool to be used, but Lord to be surrendered to. When Jesus is truly recognized as Lord, the result is real life change. The people of Ephesus responded with reverence, repentance, and radical action, confessing sin and destroying anything tied to their old lives. This passage challenges us to examine our own hearts. Do we truly know Jesus, or are we relying on borrowed faith? Are there areas of sin or compromise we need to uproot? When Jesus is Lord, our response is not casual, it is transformational.

Acts - Unstoppable

https://www.onemissionbible.com

God’s purposes move forward through unexpected turns, as seen in Paul’s journey in Acts. Despite opposition and unpredictable circumstances, he stayed focused on doing good and sharing the good news. This message invites us to view our challenges not as distractions but as places where God is at work. The church continues to spread through ordinary people, even when responses are mixed, and there is still work to be done.

// KEY TAKEAWAYS
- God’s will is not derailed by hardship or persecution. Paul’s path was marked by twists, resistance, and pressure, yet God’s purposes continued to unfold in and through his life.
- Faithfulness means doing the good that is in front of you. Rather than letting adversity distract him, Paul served people, prayed for them, and kept pointing them to the truth.
- The message will be received by some and rejected by others. In Rome, Paul reasoned from the Law of Moses; some were convinced and others were not, but the mission continued.
- God advances His church through ordinary people, and there is still work to be done. As long as we are alive, we are instruments in God’s hands; wherever we are, He can use us—even amid personal struggles—to bring help and hope.
